Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. Mike has been a CSCS for nearly 40 years.
Strength and Conditioning (S&C) is a specialized field using exercise science to improve physical performance, enhance fitness, and prevent injuries, encompassing strength training, power, speed, agility, and endurance for athletes and the general population. S&C professionals design structured programs with methods like plyometrics, bodyweight exercises, and weightlifting to boost athletic abilities, improve movement, and support overall health, often working with sports teams or individuals.
The real story is that resistance training (strength training) is the key to longevity. And, cardio fitness (conditioning) is the key to improved metabolism. One must participate in strength and conditioning in for a longer "health-span." However it is equally important that this journey includes improved nutrition and proper rest, so all of Mike's strength and conditioning programs will address the big 3: a comprehensive exercise program, proper nutrition and sleep hygiene.
