Physical Therapy

Physical therapy, also known as physiotherapy, is a healthcare profession focused on restoring, maintaining, and improving a patient's movement and physical function. It addresses limitations caused by injury, illness, or disability through various techniques like therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and patient education. Mike graduated as a Honors Scholar from the University of Connecticut with a BS in Allied Health with a major in Physical Therapy in 1998. He practiced for 17 years in the private sector working with 1000's of high-school, college, professional and weekend athletes. He then spent 10 years working with our Nation's heroes at the VA. He is now offering his expertise in a cash based private practice exclusively at The Mecca Gym.

Let's face it corporate physical therapy which is governed by insurance companies doesn't necessarily operate in your best interest. Sure they will do a fair job, but they are restricted by and beholden to share holders whose bottom-line is fiscal. A physical therapist's role is pedagogic: the idea is to teach you about your injuries, etc. and deliver to you a home program that addresses proper exercise, movement strategies, and home modalities that are designed for the long game. This way you have skin in the game; so the more you do on your own the faster you recover.  PT's are caught in the middle of your care and their corporate overlords: their MO is to use all the visits that insurance authorizes and to create goals to meet the insurance company's requirements and not always yours. Mike will visit with you and develop SMART goals that will help you meet your goals.
